현명한 올빼미는 오크 나무에서 살며 주변의 일상적인 일들을 묵묵히 관찰했습니다. 주의 깊게 듣고 말하는 것을 줄여줌으로써 그는 지혜를 얻었고, 인간의 행동과 삶의 복잡함을 이해할 수 있게 했습니다.​

A Wise Old Owl

 

Once there was an old owl living in an oak tree.

Every day he observed incidents that happened around him.

One day the owl saw a boy helping an old man to carry a heavy basket.

The other day, the owl saw a little girl screaming at her mother.

Every day the old owl saw many things but each time kept silent about what he saw.

Over time the owl starts to talk less and less but this made him hear better.

Now, the owl could hear what the people were saying when they were passing by the trees.

One day, he heard a woman telling another person how she saw an elephant jumping over her fence.

In other day, the owl heard how a young man saying that he had never made a mistake in his life.

The old owl had seen and heard about what happened to people.

Some became better and some became worse.

But the old owl had become wiser each and every day.

Moral: When you speak less you begin to notice and listen more so you will become wiser and smarter.

옛날에 참나무에 늙은 올빼미가 살고 있었습니다.

그는 매일 주변에서 일어나는 사건들을 관찰했습니다.
어느날 부엉이는 한 소년이 한 노인이 무거운 바구니를 나르는 것을 도와주는 것을 보았습니다.
지난 날, 부엉이는 어린 소녀가 엄마에게 소리치는 것을 보았습니다.
매일 늙은 올빼미는 많은 것을 보았지만 매번 그가 본 것에 대해 침묵을 지켰습니다.
시간이 지나면서 올빼미는 점점 말이 적어지기 시작하지만 이것은 그가 더 잘 들을 수 있도록 만들었습니다.
이제 올빼미는 사람들이 나무 옆을 지나갈 때 하는 말을 들을 수 있었습니다.

말을 적게 할 때 더 많은 것을 알아차리고 듣기 시작하여 더 현명해지고 똑똑해집니다.
