Airlines Offer Pet-Friendly Flights

It is estimated that one out of four South Korean households is raising a pet. Of all the possible pets, dogs are by far the most popular. The number of dogs being raised in local households is slightly over 6 million.

Dogs are often seen as additional members of the family. People love their dogs, and they want to give them happy and healthy lives. This includes keeping them safe while traveling.

One company in America is going the extra mile to make sure that our furry companions are comfortable on long flights. Bark Air is the world¡¯s very first airline designed for dogs, and it has officially taken flight. According to the company¡¯s CEO, the luxury airline was made to transport dogs of all sizes ¡°in comfort and style.¡±

Up until now, flying with dogs has mainly been viewed as a stressful and uncomfortable experience. On normal airlines, small dogs must remain in their carriers and under the seats at all times. Meanwhile, larger dogs are forced to travel under the airplanes as cargo. These experiences can be traumatic for pets, which is why Bark Air wants to change the way dogs travel.

Instead of being caged or leashed, dogs on Bark Air will be able to move freely. They will be given food and water, and airline staff even provide spa treatments during the flight.

Although Bark Air may be the first airline to prioritize canine passengers, it is certainly not alone. In Korea, Jeju Air has also introduced pet-friendly flights between Gimpo International Airport and Jeju International Airport.

On their special ¡°pet-only¡± flights, dogs are given their own seats beside their owners. After takeoff, they can roam around the cabin with a leash.
