Transcript:

 

Narrator: Some believe the moon landing was a hoax. Some believe it was real. Was the moon landing the greatest achievement in American history? Or was it filmed on a sound stage? This is a story of a forgotten astronaut. The shocking truth behind a man whose dark secrets were hidden by the government for years.

 

Mary Anne Reynolds: Oh, Douggee just loved the moon ever since he was a little boy.

 

Narrator: Doug showed extreme promise and accelerated through his studies at an unprecedented rate.

 

Mac Campbell:  The training involved in becoming an astronaut can be tough, but Doug just flew through with ease. Whether it was flight simulation, gravity training, or physical fitness, he just aced it. Damn, he was good.

 

Mac Campbell: We had our fingers cross that Doug would have something wise or noble to say when we landed on the moon.

 

Mary Anne Reynolds: (sobbing)

 

Mac Campbell:  Doug. Doug, you just landed on the moon. The whole nation is listening. Do you have anything to say?

 

Doug: I’m not rebels and I put in…

 

Mac Campbell: I’m sorry, Doug. I don’t think we heard you correctly.

 

Doug: I said, I put the ass… astronaut!

 

Mac Campbell: Oh no, no, no. Cut to the sound phase. Go to Hollywood. Go to Gilbert. Get off the screen!

 

Narrator: Despite successfully landing their first American on moon, the United States was forced to switch to a staged broadcast, starring B-list actors Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. America couldn’t afford another embarrassment, so they covered it up.

 

Mac Campbell: Looking back, we should have seen it coming.

 

Narrator: A careful glance at Douglas’s old notebooks reveals just how long ago his plans were put into place. The signs were all there, but nobody was looking. As for Douglas himself, some say that on a clear night, you might just be able to see two moons.
