Look at this old
picture.
How do you think how
life has changed since this picture was taken?
People in the past did
not have many of the things we do now.
Traveling, for example
is faster and more comfortable now than it was a long time ago.
Instead of riding
horses or wagons, we can drive cars or fly in airplanes.
Schools used to be
very small, there was only one teacher for all of the students.
Everyone learned together
in the same room.
Schools are bigger
today. There are many teachers and classrooms.
Most schools also have
cafeterias and gyms.
Student: Students in
the past played in the schoolyard.
My classmates and I
get plenty of exercise in the school gym, but I prefer to play outside.
In the past, people
scrubbed their clothes in soap and water to get them clean. It was a lot of
hard work.
Now we can put clothes
in a washing machine that does all the work for us.
Before we had
electricity, people cooked their food over fires. Thanks to stoves and ovens,
we now have a safer way to cook meals.
Life was different in
the past. Think of all the things that have changed over time.
