At just 18-years-old, NimaRinji Sherpa has already scaled 13 of the world's highest peaks. Now, he's just one summit away from becoming the youngest person to conquer all 14 mountains above 8,000 metres (26,247 ft.).

Nepali mountaineer NimaRinji Sherpa is set to become the world's youngest person to conquer all 14 mountains taller than 8,000 meters.

 

NimaRinji Sherpa: Fourteen peaks, first teenager, that is something that I am soon gonna be, after my last mountain.

 

It's a feat only about 40 others have achieved before.

Sherpa has already scaled 13 of the world's highest peaks.

In October, he plans to conquer the final one in Tibet, if China gives him a permit.

Sherpa says he wants to inspire a new generation and redefine mountaineering.

 

NimaRinji Sherpa: When I see avalanche, bad weather, an accident in the mountain, I've kind of convinced myself that this is normal in the mountain. I think this is something that has helped me a lot.

 

It's that kind of mental strength that will help him achieve his goal.
