Ahoy, let's think today, and answer the question: Why do we get gray hair?
Black and brown hair are the most common hair colors
and can be found in an estimated 90 percent of people. But as people get older,
the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die.
When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle,
that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a
more transparent color, like gray, silver, or white, as it grows.
Typically, hair starts graying after the age of 35,
but it can affect people at any age. Genetics plays a major role on when your
hair will start to gray, but other factors, such as stress, vitamin
deficiencies, and certain medical conditions, may affect the color as
well.
So that answers the question: Why do we get gray hair?
That took some thinking.

2. Besides genetics, what other factors can contribute
to hair graying?

is this always the case?
