TripAdvisor Sued Over Ride on Pregnant, Runaway Camel

A New Jersey woman says her camel ride in the Moroccan desert was more of an adventure than she was looking for.

A tour company put her on a pregnant camel that broke free, running away and throwing her, according to the woman's lawsuit. Breanne Ayala, 24, suffered a broken arm and required surgery, the Boston Globe reports.

The suit says TripAdvisor and Viator, its subsidiary, should have been aware that the tour company used camels "they knew to be untrained and in unsafe physical condition."

The companies would not comment on the negligence lawsuit, but Vaitor's website says it doesn't run the tours and isn't responsible for anything that goes wrong.

Ayala and her family signed up on Viator for a sunset camel ride in Marrakech, per Time.

One of the handlers told her that her camel's due date was a month away, according to the suit, which also says the handlers waited an hour for the tour owner to arrive before calling Ayala an ambulance.

Ayala, who had signed up for an expedition that would include a snack and mint tea at a traditional berber house, was in the hospital for two days.

"What was supposed to happen didn¡¯t happen," her lawyer said, "and I don¡¯t think you can say, 'It's at your own risk, too bad.'"

QUESTIONS:
1) State Breanne Ayala¡¯s booked travel tour on TripAdvisor and Aviator.

2) Recount the accident she encountered. How badly did that affect her health condition?

3) Specify the basis of her lawsuit against the aforementioned companies.

4) Under such circumstance, do you agree that the companies committed negligence on their part? Justify your stance.

5) If you were in Breanne¡¯s shoes, would you also consider filing a lawsuit? Why or why not?

VOCABULARY/EXPRESSION:

At own risk - done with the foreknowledge or forewarning that there is implied risk or danger which one must accept as one's own responsibility
